Chennai Express is an upcoming 2013 Indian action-comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Gauri Khan under her production banner Red Chillies Entertainment. The film features Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. This is the second collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone after the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om and the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty. Chennai Express is about a man's journey from Mumbai to Rameshwaram and what happens along the way after he falls in love with the daughter of a don.Principal photography began on 27th September 2012. Filming began in October 2012 and was wrapped-up by May 2013.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's much-awaited Chennai Express is lined up for a strong release in non-traditional international markets. In Peru, it is said to be the first Hindi film to release on the same day as it hits theatres in India Aug 9. Earlier, Shah Rukh's My Name Is Khan and actor Hrithik Roshan's Guzaarish opened as delayed releases in Peru. But Chennai Express is making a breakthrough. The Rohit Shetty-directorial movie has been locked for release in Morocco, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and Israel.
